A good number of times I have been asked if there is a way of adjusting the brightness/contrast of a video on playback. Depending on the player you use, there are many ways to do it. For this post, we'll be focusing on Windows Media Player.
ON WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER
Once you have downloaded the K-Lite Codec pack, your Windows Media player becomes a "super player" and can play almost all video format. If your video player is Windows Media Player (WMP), it should be fairly easy to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation, if the video settings panel is already visible on the media player (see below).
If the Video Settings panel does not appear on your media player, do the following steps:
- Click view on the panel in the top of your media player.
- Go to the enhancements in the scroll down menu.
- The bottom-line entrance is called Video Settings. When you click Video Settings a panel beneath the screen display shows up. In this panel you can adjust the mentioned parameters: hue, saturation, brightness and contrast.
To make it easier I've a video that shows how it should be done.
